What Windows voice typing already does well
- It's free and already on your PC — press Windows key + H in any text box.
- It speaks 46 languages on Windows 11.
- Voice commands let you select, delete and undo without touching the keyboard.
- On Copilot+ PCs, in English, “fluid dictation” tidies grammar, punctuation and filler words as you speak.
If quick, free transcription is all you need, it’s a good choice.
Where Write My Flow goes further
Clean-up on any PC
Ums, false starts and rambles become clear sentences on any Windows 10 or 11 PC — not only the newest hardware. Say “scratch that” and it's as if you never said it.
The right tone for each app
Casual in chat, professional in email, exact in a terminal — with per-app rules you can edit.
Your names, spelled your way
Teach it a name, brand or piece of jargon once and it's spelled right everywhere. It notices words you use often and offers to remember them.
A memory you can ask
Every dictation is saved to History on your PC. Search it, or ask “what did I say about the budget?” and get an answer with the dictations it came from.

Private, offline dictation on Windows
Normally your speech goes to our speech service and the polish runs through our servers — we count the words for your plan and never keep them. Turn on Private mode and it all happens on your PC instead, even with Wi-Fi off. Exactly where your words go.
Windows dictation questions
- Is Windows voice typing free?
- Yes. Press Windows key + H in any text box. It uses Microsoft's online speech recognition, so you need an internet connection, and on Copilot+ PCs in English it also tidies grammar and filler words.
- Which versions of Windows does Write My Flow support?
- Windows 11, and Windows 10 version 2004 or later. It installs from the Microsoft Store.
- Can I use Write My Flow and Windows voice typing together?
- Yes. They use different shortcuts — Windows key + H for Windows, Ctrl+Shift+Space for Write My Flow — so you can keep both.
- Does Write My Flow work offline on Windows?
- Yes, on the free plan too. Download the offline speech model once (about 148 MB) and dictation keeps working with Wi-Fi off. Private mode keeps everything on your PC even when you're online.
- Where do my words go?
- Normally your speech goes to our speech service and the polish runs through our servers; we count the words for your plan and never keep them. Your history stays on your PC unless you turn on encrypted Sync.
